Bathroom Remodeling in St. George & Washington County

Walk-in showers, tub-to-shower conversions, full primary suites. Done by a contractor who can tell good tile from bad on sight.

Why Bathroom Work Is So Easy to Get Wrong

Bathroom remodels are one of the most common projects we take on. They're also one of the easiest projects to get wrong, because so much of the work disappears behind tile and drywall the day after it's installed. If the shower pan wasn't pitched right, the membrane wasn't sealed properly, or the tile setter rushed, the homeowner won't know for two or three years. By then, the contractor is long gone.

Steve has set tile with his own hands, and he doesn't sign off on bathroom work that won't hold up. If a sub's tile job isn't right, we redo it.

Pricing

A standard bathroom remodel in Southern Utah typically runs $15,000 to $25,000. That's for a roughly 5'x12' bathroom with a tub-shower combo, toilet, sink, and vanity. Pricing scales up from there based on:

  • Walk-in shower with custom tile (vs. a basic tub-shower combo)
  • Higher-end fixtures, vanities, and lighting
  • Bathroom size and layout changes
  • Plumbing rough-in changes (moving fixtures, not just replacing them)

Primary suite remodels with larger showers, double vanities, and freestanding tubs can run significantly higher.

Timeline

Most bathroom remodels are done in two to three weeks of active construction. We typically tell homeowners to plan on four weeks to give us a buffer for surprises behind the walls and delivery timing on fixtures and tile.

What We Do

  • Demolition and disposal
  • Plumbing rough-in changes (moving drains, supply lines, vent stacks)
  • Subfloor repair and replacement
  • Waterproofing and membrane work
  • Custom tile work for shower walls, floors, and accent features
  • Vanity, toilet, and fixture installation
  • Lighting and electrical updates
  • Paint and finish trim

Walk-In Showers vs. Tubs

We're seeing a clear trend in Southern Utah toward replacing tubs with walk-in showers, especially in primary bathrooms. Walk-in showers cost a bit more than basic tub-shower replacements, but they're often a better long-term choice for aging-in-place, accessibility, and resale.

If you have one tub left in the house and want to convert it, we'll usually recommend keeping at least one tub somewhere in the home for resale flexibility. If you don't care about resale, we'll convert it.

What's Usually Hiding Behind the Walls

When we open up older Southern Utah bathrooms, the most common surprises are:

  • Black mold behind tile or drywall where shower membranes failed
  • Termite damage in subfloor or wall framing
  • Failed waterproofing under shower pans
  • Aging galvanized or polybutylene plumbing that needs replacement

We don't charge for what we find. We document it, show you, and quote the additional work before we touch it.

Why Cheap Bathroom Subs Cost You Money

A cheap shower tile job is the single most expensive mistake homeowners make in a bathroom remodel. Cut-rate tile work fails, usually within a few years. Then you're not just paying a second contractor to redo the shower. You're paying to tear out the failed work, repair the surrounding damage, and start over.

We use either our own tile crews who've been with us for years, or we set the tile ourselves. Either way, the shower we deliver is going to last.
